Unit 8 Blog

I have a hard time trying to determine which two of the exercises that I like best, and which ones I will continue to use. I feel that they are all beneficial and enjoy doing them all.
I know that the exercise that we practiced this week and the loving kindness exercises were the ones that made me feel like I could stay there in that state all day. I truly feel great after I do them, but the reason I enjoy them so much is because of the love that I can feel radiating from myself all day after practice. It feels so awesome! I also feel less stressed and less fearful. I find myself continuously saying, 'do and say it with love and intention'. This reminder every so often during my day, has started to become a habit. One that I can say that I am happy about.

  1. I feel the same way Angela. All of them are great and beneficial exercises. I have to remind myself how great I feel and why I need to do them. That inner peace and calmness is what keeps me mellowed out. I enjoy meditating in the morning to really feel that inner calmness and "why" when I venture to work, because work really kills my morning mellow. IT keeps me balanced and I can really feel a difference when I do practice and when I do not.

  2. Hey Angela,
I agree that all the practices introduced to us is very beneficial toward every aspect of our lives if we so choose to use the practices and continue them daily. I think you are right about the loving-kindness practice it is by far the best way to turn those hard days and negative attitudes around into a more positive mind and heart frame. I think by practicing them daily just like brushing your teeth it does become a habit and a very good one at that. Glad to hear your stress levels and confidence instead of fear has brought you peace and happiness!

  3. I think you made a very good observation here; when these practices are done whole heartily there benefits last long after the actual meditation, they transform our mind and our abilities. I think, I, we, people in general, can recognize that physical activity has benefits well beyond the actual workout, yet we don't recognize that these mind practices have a wealth of benefits that filter into out life. I think for me, even though this has been the focus of this class, this intimate understanding of our innate abilities, still can leave me a bit in awe of the powerful effect these practices can have in my daily life.

  4. Hello Angela,
I also found loving-kindness to be beneficial because it is a selfless act that provides you with a sense of inner-peace and happiness. It feels good to put another persons needs before your own and I was able to incorporate the loving kindness with prayer which is my preferred form of meditation.

  5. Angela,

I think that it is great that you will benefit from both practices. I happened to like the subtle mind practice better. I realized that I needed to quiet my mind.
